VICTORY ON OUR KNEES
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14 KJV)
In the course of the week, RCCG Winners Way Church (our mother church) began a new intercessory endeavour which has been aptly called Deborah Army. This is a group for interceding for the nation and for the challenges of our times. For as many as partook in the two-day inaugural sessions, the Lord will meet you at the very point of your needs, in Jesus Name, Amen.
There is something exciting about a people knelt before their Maker in prayer. Usually, when people kneel down, it’s a sign of surrender. In military warfare, when the enemy is conquered, the soldier kneels down to the conqueror with hands raised up waiting for the judgement that will most certainly come upon him/her.
This same imagery applies also for the believer who kneels before his/her Maker just as we have been kneeling before the Lord this week. Knees humbly bent, hands raised to God in worship and voice pleading the mercy of God: this is a powerful image which delights the heart of God. Unlike the image of the surrendered soldier ready for court marshalling, the Christian who knows how to kneels is a symbol of irresistible victory. When we kneel in surrender and total honour of our God, we are a power-backed army, with victory assured and the enemies of God in great danger. It is this power that the Christian carries when he/she learns how to kneel before the God.
No wonder Apostle John in 1 John 5:14, speaks about a great confidence we have when we know how to kneel before God in prayer. It says, it is a confidence that makes us commanders in prayer: whatsoever we ask/command, heaven will follow suit immediately. In fact, the true intercessor knows that once prayer is said over an issue, just like John said in 1 John 5:15, we know we have received already what we desired of him. What a privilege! We will continue to stand in the gap for this nation, praying as God motivates us. There is another session coming up by this Friday and Saturday! Will you allow yourself to be one of the kneeling Deborah Army who are poised to experience victory over the forces of darkness
