GLORY IN THE SCARS

“… who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by he comfort we ourselves are comforted in God.” (2 Corinthians 1:4 KJV)

There is an amazing glory revealed in the scars of a child of God. Whatever the scar might be, we must see the glory buried within it. Outwardly, the scar might be unsightly and even disgusting to look at. The uninformed will sneer at it and wonder what you did to get the scars. Yet, God has a plan for allowing scars in our lives. It is phrased in these God-declared words: “…for my glory alone!”

Your scar might be a loss of a child at a young age. For another, it might be delays in marriage and childbirth. Ministry, in spite of all labour of love, might not be growing commensurate to labour: this may be your scar. It could be the jesting and sneering of bosses, colleagues and unbelievers, as a result of your faith in God. Whatever the scar might be, please rest assured that there is glory in the scars and God is about to reveal it through you!

Although God could deliver Jesus from the grave without the imprints of the nails (his scars), God chose not to. Why? God knew there will be a Thomas who will not believe unless he physically puts his fingers in the imprints of the nails. Thomas needed to encounter the scars of Jesus. The scar was his connection to absolute faith and redemption in God. God allowed the scar to be and by encounter of Thomas with the scars, Thomas began to fulfil his ministry. Thomas went on to do tremendous work of faith for God and God was glorified.

For your every scar, rest secure in God for God is going to use it to bless someone. This is why Paul in 2 Corinthians 1:4 says our troubles will serve as instrument of comfort for someone somewhere. God is using your scars as vehicles of ministry to those going through similar things. Out of their challenges shall arise a glory of God so great that the scars will pale into insignificance.

When the devil begins to blame you and make you bemoan your situation, look up to Jesus who is the author and finisher of your faith. He is authoring a glorious testimony out of your scars and in a short time, you shall begin to share testimonies. I pray that you go into the week empowered to make a difference. It is well with our souls in Jesus Name, Amen.
