Your time (turn) to breakthrough

(1Corinthians 15:41) There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory.

(Genesis 38:27-30) Now it came to pass, at the time for giving birth, that behold, twins were in her womb. And so it was, when she was giving birth, that the one put out his hand; and the midwife took a scarlet thread and bound it on his hand, saying, “This one came out first.” Then it happened, as he drew back his hand, that his brother came out unexpectedly; and she said, “How did you break through? This breach be upon you!” Therefore his name was called Perez. Afterward his brother came out who had the scarlet thread on his hand. And his name was called Zerah.

Today we are discussing ‘your time (turn) to breakthrough’.
I am not sure many if any of you has heard the term or phrase: “No two children are the same – even twins, identical or otherwise. As an avid observer of people and nature, I am always intrigued and fascinated by the works of God. As much as many twins share similarities, their unique difference will always be there and in some cases evident.

In today’s scriptural reading, we read about the birth of Perez and Zerah (both twins).
At birth, one thrust out his hand, then withdrew it (the pretender). The midwife in a bid to avoid a mix-up (confusion), as to who came out first, took preemptive action – tied a thread on the hand of the baby (she thought she saw first) that thrust out its hand. Sooner than later, the other twin came out – He broke through !

Isn’t it true that, between twins born on the same day to the same family, one talks, or walks, before the other and by so we attribute to the one walks or talk first as the sharpest or brightest of the twin.
So also in life, we make a mistake by comparing two children or people with one another not realising God created each individual with its own uniqueness and purpose in life.
(Genesis 25:22-26) But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. And the Lord said to her: “Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older shall serve the younger.” So when her days were fulfilled for her to give birth, indeed there were twins in her womb. And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau. Afterward his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel; so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.

Many times, parents, family members, communities and society are quick to favour or pour accolades (encomiums) on one child doing well (in development) at the expense of the other(s).
We seem to often forget that some of us are late starters/developers in life. Remember when we were at school, some of our classmates by virtue of their brilliance are instantly labelled as protégées, genius in the making, owing to their early showing only for time to pass 15 – 20 years down the line, those who used to be last in class examinations coming out to be more successful educationally and excelling in all other sectors of life outshining those who showed early signs of success.
(Amos 9:13) Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, “When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow with it.

I am often amazed at the works of God.
In my not so long time on earth, I have come to discover that as much as you can utilise opportunities that come your way, make your own success, without the mercy of God; it will look like a fruitless labour (may that not be your portion in Jesus name) Amen.

So it may have been possible that someone has jumped ahead of you (like Perez did to Zerah), making waves in the family, in the community, on radio and television. Despite your skill, knowledge and ability in your chosen field, there may currently be a young pretender sitting on your throne;
May I offer a word of advice? The fact that they started and gone ahead to establish an unassailable lead (gave you a mountain of a gap to claw back), doesn’t mean you can’t catch up with them and even surpass their achievements.
(1 Kings 18:46) Then the hand of the Lord came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

“BREAKTHROUGH TIME”

# So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy (Romans 9:16).

Good morning my family of friends.

‘It’s over ‘till it’s over…’
Still singing songs of victory, Hallelujah!
